Yacouba Konaté is a storyteller, singer and composer from the Ivory Coast, where he fled from in 2010. He then spent three years in the Choucha camp in Tunisia, where he began to learn to sing and compose music. There, he also worked for the DRC (Danish Refugee Council – UN). He has played at music festivals and recorded an album. Living in France since 2016, he plays music to accompany screenings of the film Choucha (in which he is a character) by Sophie Bachelier and Djibril Diallo. Along with Gambian percussionist Waly Saho, he performs a musical show for children ("Le Jeune Yacou" – "The Young Yacou"), which tells his life story through song.
